On January 29, 1955, Kotor gave birth to one of the greatest water polo players of all time - Zoran Gopčević, known as Jimi. His brilliant playing career began in VK "Borac" from Orahovac, and soon became the trademark of VK "Primorac" (later VK "Kotor").

Jimi Gopčević won the hearts of fans with his incredible game, and his list of trophies is truly impressive:

But that's not all! Gopčević also showed his talent at the international level. He was an indispensable member of the SFRY national team under the leadership of Trifun Mir Ćirković. His greatest achievements in the national team include:

In addition to being unstoppable in the pool, Gopčević later became a successful coach. He won the FRY Championship with VK "Budvanska Riviera" in 1994.

Jimi Gopčević was known to be a real nightmare for his opponents. Ozren Bonacic, the gold medalist from Mexico in 1968, described him as the best player he met in his career. Following the words of Bonačić, every possession of the ball called for decisions by the referees - goal, goal-out, corner, foul, counter-foul, exclusion, four-pointer... His playing qualities were incredible and extremely difficult to catch up with for all those who had chance to play against him!

Jimi Gopčević will forever be remembered as a water polo icon, a legend who marked Kotor, Yugoslav and world water polo. His passion for the game and incredible skill left a lasting mark on the history of this sport.
